T. Stafford & Sons, Coolock

This project involves the change of use, extension and complete refurbishment of the former Tayto Factory at Greencastle Road, Coolock, Dublin 5. The building is to be changed to a retail / cultural and funeral services building for T. Stafford & Sons Ltd. The building which is set out over two floors measures approximately 4,800m². MPA have been involved with the project through planning, procurement and construction. MPA have provided Civil / Structural Engineering, Design and Assigned Certifier services as well as PSDP services and Project Management for the project. The project will see the upgrade of the building fabric to comply with the Building Regulations Part L and Part M in terms of insulation, sustainability and energy efficiency as well as universal access, and other Building Regulation requirements.

MPA are also involved in the procurement and co-ordination of specialist consultants for Mechanical, Electrical and Energy Strategy as well as Fire and Disability Access Design. The project involves the investigation and assessment of the existing structural fabric of the building which is approximately 60 years old and in need of refurbishment and upgrade in many areas, as well as the internal modification of the existing structural arrangement necessitating new structural systems within the building. There are also a number of small extensions being added to the building. MPA have provided designs for a sustainable drainage systems and upgrade of the existing combined drainage systems. MPA have prepared and are co-ordinating a 3D Revit Model for the building which is intended to be used as a BIM Model by the Client incorporating general layout and building services into the model.
