Housing Development, Gaol Road, Kilkenny

This project involved the provision of 10 no dwelling units consisting of 4 no. apartments, 3 no single storey sheltered cottages and 3 no. 2 storey dwellings on a brownfield confined site close to Kilkenny City Centre. The project included the design and detailing of all drainage system including foul and storm, SUDS based drainage management system. Due to site constraints and poor filled ground in parts, the scheme involved some deep strip footing and trench fill foundations as well as underpinning of existing neighbouring boundaries both of which were adopted following a value engineering assessment of the works.

This project which had a number of design features required on going liaison with the project Architects and the client to ensure a buildable and economic solution with attention to detail on issues including use of insulated lintels and detailing for minimising thermal bridging at junctions. This project was delivered on a tight urban site under the CWMF and GCCC Form of Contract.
