Project Description
MPA provided Civil and Structural Engineering and Project Supervisor Design Process (PSDP) Service for this Design & Build project. MPA also provided Design Certifier & Assigned Certifier Services as well as Project Management Services. MPA were involved in the appointments, co-ordination and management of M&E, Fire / DAC and Fuel Storage and Delivery Design Specialists. This project involved the construction of a Type II – Motorway Services Area consisting of two storey services building of some 1350m2, with associated car parking (111 spaces), HGV parking (13 spaces), Coach parking (3 spaces) and ancillary site services on lands at Jordanstown, Paulstown all with new site entrance and associated services connected to a new on-site wastewater treatment system and adjacent storm sewers. The drainage scheme used sustainable systems incorporating a large detention basin.
The project also involved new embankment works for the provision of a decleration lane and a new left in / left out junction on the R914 at Junction 7 on the M9 motorway. This off site work involved co-ordination of inputs from the NRA and Kilkenny County Council. MPA were also involved in the design and siting of the motorway signage for the serivce area in conjuction with the NRA.
