Being based in the medieval city of Kilkenny, MPA understand the importance of our built heritage and Protected Structures. We recognise the need to protect and conserve the past while building for the future and we see that this is often a delicate balance when it comes to putting older buildings back in to functional modern use that provide the necessary levels of comfort and safety for our clients in their buildings. We see the craft and materials used in our heritage buildings, from stone and brick in lime mortar to pitch pine trusses and iron cleats and we have learned that we need to understand and respect the intent of the designers, builders and owners of these heritage buildings.
